So, Matt was on KWOD Friday morning. Apparently, with all the hype about Gray-out Davis and the multitude of candidates for the recall election, KWOD has decided to endorse Lou Ferrigno as the next gubna of Cali, but could not decide what party he should run under. Matt called in suggesting that he run under the Bull Moose Party. Before Matt really had a chance to say anything else, the radio hosts started going off about steroids and how Mr. Ferrigno is all natural and then hung up on him. I guess there was some connection with moose and steroids.(?)
I did not hear Matt on the radio because I don't get KWOD in Portland, but he asked me to post this because he was unable to access the internet. (his sister used up all their minutes...) If anyone heard Matt on the radio, please post any corrections to this rant and remember... vote Bull Moose, not Bull Sh*t!

I am on the roadtrip from hell.... feels like we traveled through hell too. Started by flying into New Orleans, got picked up at he airport and promptly hit the French Quater. Bourbon Street was fun, but not being Mardi Gras, it kinda felt like Old Sac on a busy Friday night. Lot more people out later though and a whole lot stickier. We played disc golf at the worst course, I've ever seen. The whole thing was a swamp. Went to Mississippi on Saturday, camped in a bayou, got rained on and had to sleep in the front seat of a VW Beetle. Played more disc golf at Sheppard state park on an awesome course . Best game I ever shot. On to Alabama on Sunday for more disc golf at Citronelle, (fun course). Now I am at a cyber-cafe in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Today we head back towards Jackson, MS via Mobile, AL. I will update more from there if anyone actually cares to see it. I am having a great time, and consuming lots of *beverage*. - View/Add Comments (7 so far)
I can't believe I almost forgot!!! So, happy 5th of May. The funny little Mexican holiday that Mexicans don't actually observe in Mexico. Hey, thanks for the American love of holidays and observances. - View/Add Comments (9 so far)
Lets give a BigDis cheer for Mr. Waterworth. Today he is 29 for the very first time. (although, likely not the last) :) Hope you are having a great day Matt. We all miss you here in Portland!!! - View/Add Comments (9 so far)
So, my wife's union is going on strike Monday morning at 7:30am. It doesn't look like it's going to be resolved quickly either. The last strike at an Oregon hospital in 1990 lasted five weeks. The strike will likely cost the hospital most of the $33 million profit they made this year. I'm mostly disappointed at the managements behavior during this whole thing. - View/Add Comments (12 so far)
So, O.J. is at it again. This is some good reading. Drugs, money laundering, and cable theft. An American love story. :)

So, I've been busting my ass for 3 days working on our little web site here at work. Really lame stuff like, proofreading and correcting item descriptions, adding little warranty info, etc. Really it's not that bad, we just have a HUGE site with over 3000 items. Well, most of my corrections/additions involve our friend "copy and paste". Apparently though, my boss is under the impression that I just screwed off all day, because he didn't hear the annoying clatter of my keyboard. Needless to say, I now am being asked to type everything out rather than actually be efficient. I just don't get it. If the boss had actually bothered to look at the site, he'd have seen that I managed to get more done than they thought could be. - View/Add Comments (28 so far)
So, my wife calls me Friday and says she needs me to come home because she wasn't feeling good. No big deal really with people being sick lately and what not. Well, the nausea didn't go away and was really a lot like morning sickness. Needless to say, we did one of those home testing kits and it turns out positive. Then, of course, off to Kaiser for the official test. The official word is "yes", my daughter will soon be a big sister and I get to be Daddy one more time. This was a real suprise and very unexpected. We were not trying to get pregnant, but equally, we were not trying to prevent it either. We are expecting sometime in May. Just wanted to tell everyone the good news, please keep happy thoughts for us. - View/Add Comments (15 so far)
So, as Matt mentioned, I spent my 28th birthday in the hospital. Actually, it was on a cardiac floor that was one step below ICU. The doctors informed me that the incredible chest pain was from pericarditis. An inflamation of the the pericardium, which is the protective lining around the heart. They were all mostly sure that it was from whatever "hell bug" attacked my body over the weekend, but beacause I had such a high count of a cardiac enzym called troponin in my blood (normal being 0.5, mine being 103)they wanted to do an angiogram. That was quite interesting. After shaving my pubic hair into a mohawk, they shoved a catheter into my femoral artery (in the groin area) and fed a small line up to the heart and filled it with a contrast dye to look for blockages. Luckily, they found nothing significant enough to be harmful, yet. There was, however, some plaque build-up in my arteries thanks to 13+ years of smoking. It kinda sucks to think that I have coronary artery disease at such a young age (even if it is very minor). The good news is that it's not going to kill me yet and that it can be reversed. Needless to say, I'm giving up my cigarettes!!! That is the real killer. As I said, the chest pain was caused from being sick, not smoking, but boy what a wake-up call. Not to mention that my 1 year old daughter doesn't need to learn daddy's bad habits. So, I'm home now recovering and wanting that birthday beer. Thanks for all those happy thoughts!!!!!! - View/Add Comments (2 so far)

Wow!!! Finally convinced my system to let me rant!! BIG BIG NEWS!!!! My wife and I just had our 1st baby last week. We had a 7 lb 6.5 oz, 19 inch bundle of joyous daughter on Wed., July 26th, 2000 at 9:58pm.
